This feels like something that one does at the beginning of the year, but now that we are halfway through the year, I can see how much has changed since 2017. It was a big year, lots of changes. Lots of good, lots of bad. It's harder to remember to document the bad parts, but I tried when I could. The 1 Second a Day app gave me an excuse to at least take a little memory from every day so I could string them all together by the end of the year. It's a good compilation, and it showed some big moments:

January:

A melancholy month. I always love coming back home to Chicago. It's rare that I have an opportunity to see extended family as well. I wish it was for something as festive as a wedding, but unfortunately it was because of my Grandmother passing. It was a sharp blow to everyone. What ended up hitting me the hardest was not the idea of losing a grandmother, but the idea of my father now having lost both of his parents. That's a feeling I can't even fathom, and it still breaks my mind a little to think about.

February:

I swear the rest of these will be happier. February has a good amount of time with friends, which I cherish dearly. I was prioritizing my time with them, as well as forging stronger bonds with my coworkers in the Petco grooming department.

March:

Me and Dre's belated Honeymoon on the Joco Cruise. An experience I will never forget. Never thought I would ever want to go on one, but it was a music, gaming, and comedy festival on a boat. So of course!

April:

Our Los Angeles family continues to strengthen as Mike and Darlene got Married! Luckily this was also a time where our good friend Victor was in town and living with us!

May:

While I have clearly enjoyed my time at Petco grooming, May was when it all started falling apart. One by one we were all leaving. And when your core group of groomers is 4 people, it was only a matter of time before I would leave too.

June:

Dre is a creator. She will always be making things and that's what June seemed to be all out. Between her making Groots and me making dinners (Blue Apron) we were feeling pretty handy.

July:

A turning point! If I was going to get a decent job, I needed a car. So I got one. Dre's car! Dre ended up getting a nice new car and I starting to try my best to convince people that I have been driving for more than a month.

August:

New job. New experiences. New people. New dogs. Oh young August 2017 Kyle. What have you got yourself into?

September:

Squirrels!

October:

Getting into the groove of the new job, and getting a new routine in life.

November:

MY PHONE BROKE AND I LOST A BUNCH OF VIDEOS!

December:

Age of the New phone. Better videos, and the beginning of my decent into the madness that is 2018.
